A cavallo tra il 600 e il 700, si affermavano particolarmente in Italia e in Francia gli stili Veneziano e Liberty. Entrambi gli stili, pur con le dovute differenze, prevedevano la verniciatura o laccatura del mobile, sul quale venivano poi eseguite decorazioni o lavorazioni a intarsio. Between the 1600 and 1700 centuries were born in Italy and France the styles Veneziano and Liberty.
